Principal's message

Let me introduce myself ...

Not long before the end of the 2018 school year I was given the news that I was about to embark on a wonderful and exciting adventure. That I was lucky enough to be appointed as the new Principal here at Robertson Public School. Not long after receiving that news I started researching and reading, reading up on this amazing little school, this dedicated learning community, and I soon started to understand what a fabulous school Robertson Public School is growing into being. I hope that I can continue to work in partnership with you to continue to nurture and educate your child in this rapidly changing world.

I come to Robertson Public School with about 24 years of experience in education, which has seen me become part of education communities in Forbes and Eugowra in the central west of NSW, and in Stanmore in the inner west of Sydney. I have also been a leader within educational communities in Culburra on the south coast of NSW; at Muscat International School in the city of Muscat, in the Sultanate of Oman in the middle east; in Gerringong on the south coast of NSW; and most recently in the Nowra area of the south coast.

Over the years I have been fortunate to live in, work in and be part of some very welcoming, engaging and unique communities, currently I live in the village of Shellharbour and am very much looking forward to becoming part of the Robertson community.

In my research about Robertson Public School I have discovered that the School Plan focuses on “Research Informed Pedagogy”, “Technology Enhanced Teaching and Learning”, and “Community Engagement” and the delivery of this plan is enhance by an enriching and structured, yet innovative and challenging curriculum that is being delivered it a supportive and caring learning community. I must say that I feel very fortunate to be coming into a learning community that is being driven by such directions, as they are directions in which I myself have been working towards in over 20 years of educational experience, experience that has been gathered in a variety of environments and driven by a desire to understand how kids learn and what practices really have the most impact on enhancing that learning.

For me, It has always been essential that all students are engaged in meaningful learning that promotes the skills and values necessary for success in education, life and work in a rapidly changing 21st Century world, and in a world where students should be at the centre of all learning, where learning is seen as a life long journey. As I have researched Robertson Public School, It has become obvious to me that when your child leaves our school they do so as literate, numerate, well-educated citizens who have the capability, confidence and independence to make a positive contribution to our society as lifelong learners. I look forward to engaging with the entire school community to ensure that this learning journey continues.

It is also very obvious that Robertson Public School, as a Learning Community is very proud of its history, values, outstanding facilities and the high standards achieved by our students. Again, I am very excited to be able work closely with you all to continue this trend.

If at any time you would like to speak to me please feel free to give me a call here at school, or contact the school office to make an appointment, but I will also be out and about in the playground when school resumes, so please come up and introduce yourself and we can have a bit of a chat.

Kind Regards

Mr Gordon Parrish
